Our team took a little trip to an exhibition at the National Taiwan Science Education Center (國立臺灣科學教育館) located in the Shilin district of Taipei. The exhibition has been made available to the public from mid January 2013 to the end of May 2013 in an effort to educate the public about the important role that water plays in our lives. The exhibition displayed interactive games, the hydrology cycle, short films, a water wheel, a photography exhibition of how water is used around the world, ancient water-related artifacts from China and more. The aim of the exhibition was to educate the public about the state of water resources not only in Taiwan but also the world as a whole, since water interconnects every human being on this Earth.
It is very likely that our Water Games will also be exhibited at this location. Arrangements are currently taking place.

NCHC 3D ANIMATION CHALLENGE
HPC功夫 - 國網3D動畫全國大賽
July 10, 2012
Hsinchu (新竹), Taiwan.
Our Water Games team recently attended the ceremony of a national competition held in Hsinchu [新竹] on 3D animation, hosted by the National Center for High-performance Computing [Chinese version], as part of the training for our Game Development team.
The NCHC is one of the 12 national-level member laboratories and a major operating component of the National Applied Research Laboratories (NARL). The competition ceremony our team attended exhibited a range of creative animation works done by university students around the country. Despite limited funding and resources, the animation works created were very impressive. The NTU Water Game team is hoping for possible future partnerships with NCHC and recruiting students specialized in animation to join our team. We also invited other NTU students to join our team for this trip. |
WET PROJECT TRAINING
June 7-8, 2012
Miaoli (苗栗), Taiwan.
Group exercise during a workshop.
The project manager of NTU Water Games was sent to Miaoli (苗栗), a rural area in Taiwan, for a special training hosted by the Guanshu Education Foundation (觀樹教育基金會). The training was essentially a series of workshops led by WET Project representatives, who were visiting from the States. WET is an international non-governmental organization that has been dedicated to producing activity guidebooks for teachers since 1984; The activities in the guidebooks cover a wide range of water-related topics and WET representatives are sent all over the world to train teachers from respective countries on how they could promote water education through practical learning. The Water Games team plans to adapt some of the activities in the guidebooks to be used in Taiwan schools in the near future.
